Our startup highlights from 2020 and optimism for 2021

Within our first year of business, LogicBoost Labs has successfully signed on 3 portfolio companies, offering the opportunity to help these local startups grow through investment, mentoring, sales, and marketing expertise. Our 2020 mission has been geared towards providing the resources needed to help our startup companies succeed, all while facing the challenges of closed businesses and remote working.

1. Added over 5,000 new customers! (Barpay – Los Angeles, California)

Originating as a contactless order and pay system for bars and venues, our partner Barpay shifted gears this year by choosing to help the restaurant industry directly. As restaurants were continually being shut down due to COVID-19 restrictions, Barpay stepped in to introduce a new QR-code based digital menu platform. The new platform allowed venue owners a quick and simple menu option to their customers without the concern of spreading germs through physical menus. QR-code digital menus were an instant source of help, and generated thousands of views within its first few months of launch.

Barpay co-founder, Joe De Pinto weighs in: “Despite what was probably the worst year in the history of the service industry, Barpay was able to capitalize on restaurants looking for new “contactless” technology. I don’t think we would have been able to pivot and act as quickly as we did for things like QR code digital menus and QR code order + payments without the help, and more importantly the encouragement of LogicBoost Labs. The support definitely got us through some serious growing pains like going from less than 50 total clients, to several thousand clients within a month and having so much site traffic that our site broke!

We are looking forward to the service industry rebounding this year and we are excited by the opportunity on hand. We believe that technology will continue to play a huge role in restaurants and bars reopening safely, and we expect our line of products to continue growing into a full contactless point of sale system.”

2. Hits 50 customers in 2020! (Propel – Tel Aviv, Israel)

Propel provides public relations management software which includes a media database, pitching tools and monitoring for brands and clients. With customers such as The Daily Mail and software company DataArt, Propel spent 2020 growing its customer base and strengthening its offering of tools and media contacts. The company has recently had mentions in articles featured in Forbes, PR Week, and Inc.com, and will spend its time in 2021 improving their tools to enhance the world of digital public relations.

Of the past year, Propel co-founder and CEO Zach Cutler says: “2020 was a banner year for Propel. We increased revenue by over 5x, reached over 50 customers, signed some of the best-known agencies and brands in the world, rolled out powerful new additions to our product, and received recognition across the industry for being the most innovative PR software in the world. The support of LogicBoost Labs was instrumental in helping us get to where we are, and we really appreciate it.”

3. Over 120 brands on the podcast! (Scholars – Memphis, Tennessee)

Our latest partner Scholars reached new heights in 2020 through collaborations and media efforts. Their hit podcast The Internship Show is consistently ranked as a top feature on both Spotify and Apple Music, and includes guests from organizations such as Oracle, Activision, and Uber. Through their podcast interviews, Scholars has created resources for interns and students who hope to secure jobs with some of the largest employer brands, including the likes of PwC and Northwestern Mutual.

During 2021, Scholars will be offering even more resources for both job seekers and employers through a new e-book with interviewing resources, as well as introducing an Employer Brand Score model to benchmark industry performance.

Co-founder and CEO Ben Siegel states: “Despite everything that happened in the world, 2020 was a great year for Scholars and our partners (both investors and brands). Scholars is quickly becoming the largest and most trusted place on the internet for job-seeking college students and recent grads and we plan on reaching over 1 million students by the end of 2021. We’re heading into the new year with a lot of momentum and expect this year to be our biggest and most profitable year to date.”
